Nevis Triathlon To Go Long Distance
After months of negotiation with between the SKN Triathlon Federation, the Nevis Island Administration and Star Productions of Monaco, the Tristar 111 long distance race formula (1km Swim, 100km Bike, 10km Run) will come to the island of Nevis, the following press release has been issued:-

Brand new overseas destination announced for the internationally successful and growing TriStar Series 30 AUG 2010, Monte Carlo, Monaco
TriStar111 Nevis will be the climax of a week full of fun and sports on the Caribbean Island of Nevis. The Race Week will feature a StarMile swimming event as well as a TriStar11.1 race for beginners. TriStar111 Nevis is the first of a number of new TriStar event destinations to be announced for 2011.
The first of a series of new events to be announced for 2011 is TriStar111 Nevis. 1km of swimming, 100km of cycling and 10km of running will take place on 2 April 2011 on the island in the Caribbean Sea. Charlestown, the island’s capital, will be the start and finishing point of the internationally successful triathlon format.
“TriStar111 Nevis with its connected team and family member events will bring a huge boost in terms of sports tourism to the island of Nevis”, says Winston Crooke, President of the St Kitts & Nevis Triathlon Federation that will act as partner for Star Production begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting SARL in producing the event.
TriStar111 Nevis will replace the popular annual regional triathlon that was held during the month of March. Top local cyclist and Triathlete Reggie Douglas supports the new Caribbean TriStar race conjointly organized by Winston Crooke, Philippe Dutilleul, and Star Production begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting SARL.
The event week will be opened with the first ever StarMile swimming event world-wide. The former Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim over 2,5 miles will be relabelled “StarMile 2.5 Nevis” and kick off a week of fun, social responsibility and environmental protection on the island. Later in the week, a TriStar11.1 will be held for kids and triathlon newcomers, before the main event takes place on Saturday.
All of the Hotels and guest houses on the island will be targeted for accommodation and entertainment during the one week period for which the visitors are expected to remain on the island. Hotels and guest houses in St. Kitts, the neighbouring island, will also be utilized.
The 36-square-mile (A/N: 93km2) island of Nevis lies near the top of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, about 200 (A/N: 322km) miles south of Puerto Rico, and just west of Antigua. This island jewel is approximately 7 miles long and 5 miles wide, with natural vegetation that is unparalleled. Green and serene, Nevis is truly one of the remaining unspoilt places and proudly carries the name "Queen of the Caribees." From the top of the 3,232-foot (A/N: 985m) Nevis Peak to the depths of the clear waters offshore, there is a world of flora and fauna to be explored.
