Team Time Trial April 24th 2010
The second time trial of the year was a team effort, each two person team raced against the clock to cover 30/20/ or 5kms depending on the category the team rode in. 9 teams competed in total and the course was set from Oualie beach up to St James, back down to TDC, then finishing back at Oualie (30km) the shorter distances turned at the airport.
The No 1 ranked team was of course James & Reggie who had returned from Training in Tucson, Arizona just the day before; the trick for everyone else was to see how close they could get to the dynamic duo. In Time Trials the slower riders begin first, with the other teams being sent off at one-minute intervals, and in the Team event the idea is for the riders to share the work load by swapping the lead, giving the rider behind a chance to take a little rest before coming forward again, the finish time is taken from the 2nd rider passing the line.
Despite Reggie suffering with jet lag, they still managed to win with a two minute margin, completing the 30km course in 49:28 followed by Winston & Greg, in third was the team from St Kitts Laura Talaga and Royston Stevens. The Junior 30 km teams were led in by the Father/Daughter team of Matt & Sasha Lloyd in a time of 54:02, followed by the team of Prince Leader /Stalone Baker. For the 20km (Jrs) first place was taken by the combined team of Richard Leader and Ray Hubbe in 45:29 with Adjua Lloyd / Jessica Amory in 2nd place. Special mention to Andrea Berridge, who at 9 yrs old teamed up with her uncle Greg for her first TT, completing the 5km Cadet course in 18:38.
Many thanks to our wonderful timing crew of Collette and Marecia, the next event on the TNCTC calendar will be the annual ‘RIDE OF SILENCE’ on the 21st May, for more details of this and any other events see any member for information.
