James Sets Out to Improve his Coaching Qualifications

One of the Federations well known athletes James Weekes will be heading off to the cold of Loughborough in England at the end of January to participate in an International Triathlon Union (ITU) level 2 coaching course.

In 2007 James was one of the two Federations athletes to obtain a level 1 Community Coaching Course certificate, this was held in Trinidad, and the Level 2 course will greatly advance his skills as a triathlon coach.

SKN Triathlon Federation President Winston Crooke stated “this is another leap forward for all of us, as James has always been a great trainer and motivator, now he can obtain the certification to match”

James had this to say “I am ready to undergo the heavy workload that the course entails, the 10 hrs a day classes that involves both field work and theory, but did it have to be sub-zero temperatures?? Not to mention my first experience of snow”

James Weekes is a former National Triathlon and Cycling Champion who, though still very competitive, feels that he needs to lend his skills and experience to the advancement of the ongoing youth training programs, the new techniques and disciplines he will learn will enable him to do just that, as he competes less and less over the coming years.

The St Kitts & Nevis Triathlon Federation would like to extend its thanks to the Nevis Island Administration for their assistance in making the trip possible, and looks forward to the upcoming triathlon season
