Reggie cycles Nevis

The Nevis Tourism Authority sponsors triathlon champion
CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS – December 2006 – Reggie Douglas has been cycling for years, but he now has an extra wind at his back – the Nevis Tourism Authority. Born and raised on the island, Reggie Douglas is the top cyclist and triathlete in Nevis and competes in races throughout the Caribbean. Now, with the sponsorship of the Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA), Reggie hopes to reach even greater heights.
“We have been strong supporters of Reggie for many years,” stated Helen Kidd, CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority. “He is a tremendous athlete and with this official sponsorship, he will be an ambassador for Nevis as he travels and competes throughout the world.”
The Nevis Tourism Authority has completely outfitted Reggie with a jersey, shorts, cycling shoes, helmet and bike, all of which proudly display the NTA’s logo. They are also providing him with Tri suits, running shoes, riding gloves, cycling glasses and travel and accommodation for specific races.
Not only is Reggie Douglas a star triathlete, but he is also one of the top tour guides on the island of Nevis and has been with Windsurf ’N’ Mountainbike Nevis for the past six years. Whether on a bike or in a kayak, Reggie knows his way around the island and loves showing off its natural beauty to visitors. This past March, Reggie took the first ever OECS Olympic Distance Triathlon Championship title during the Carino sponsored Nevis Olympic Triathlon 2006.
The island of Nevis is located in the Leeward Islands of the West Indies archipelago. This tiny jewel is just eight miles long and six miles wide, yet it has a natural beauty that is unparalleled. The Spanish explorers called Nevis, “Nuestra Senora de las Nieves” (Our Lady of the Snows) as a tribute to the white clouds surrounding the islands central volcanic peak. Its green foothills support tropical rain forests, secluded valleys, historic plantations and the remains of sugar cane fields while its turquoise waters lap palm-fringed beaches.
