Dutch triathlon coach to train the St.Kitts & Nevis athletes
In an effort to raise the performance level of its team members, especially in the swim section, we are pleased to have the co-operation of seasoned competitor and Triathlon coach Janine Herweijer from Holland. Janine has agreed to come to Nevis in January 2006 to work on the teams swimming techniques in the lead up to the annual Olympic Triathlon scheduled for March 12th. The following is a short biography.
Janine Herweijer is 38 years old and born in the Netherlands, she has been involved in the triathlon sport since 1993, up until then cycling was her sport. In 1993 she did her first, olympic distance, triathlon and from that time she was 'infected' by the triathlon-virus for ever, she thinks.
Up to 2001 she only did ¼ [1-40-10km], olympic distance triathlons [1.5-40-10km], short duathlons and some winter triathlons, i.e. running-biking-skating.
In 2001 Janine finished her first half Ironman triathlon and her first ironman distance; Almere Holland Triathlon. Since then she has finished several half - ironmans among which HALF-IRONMAN St. Croix and HALF-IRONMAN Monaco, and two other ironman distances; IRONMAN France and the Almere Holland Triathlon again.
In 2002 Janine got her triathlon trainer qualifications and is certified to give swim, bike and running lessons. Also in 2002 she participated in the setup of the Aquapoldro Triathlon Club in her residence of Apeldoorn. From that time she is one of the triathlon trainers of the club, teaching elite and age-group triathletes how to swim, bike and run.
Besides being a triathlon trainer in her spare time, Janine is the webmaster of the Aquapoldro Triathlon Club website [www.tri-apeldoorn.nl], she trains a lot herself and works for a living as a Software System Architect at PEMSTAR BV.
We look forward to Janine's arrival, her asistance, and to see her in action during the Nevis Triathlon.
