General Information

The St Kitts & Nevis Triathlon Federation has joined forces with the Star Events group and the Nevis Island Administration to once again bring the Tristar111 Nevis Triathon to the Caribbean, as we celebrate 10 years of Triathlon here on beautiful Nevis. This is an International long distance event that takes the sport to a different level. Athletes from all over the world and the region will be coming togetther on Nevis to participate in the 111 Distance 33.3 or 11.1 Triathlon. Individual competitors and relay teams for the 111 are most welcome.

  • TriStar33.3 Distance - 300m Swim - 30km Bike - 3km Run (individual or Relay)

Course descriptionTriStar111

The swim course
The swim will start in Gallows bay in downtown Charlestown. There will be a Beach start, the course will take the swimmers out and right around the first bouy past the ferry pier and parallel to Hunkins Drive turning at the second bouy to head back towards the dinghy dock where the swim concludes. Athletes will climb out of the water and collect their 'Bike bag' which contains their helmet, shoes etc, and into which wil go their wet gear. The athletes will then run onto Hunkins Drive and into the bike transition area set up in the main car park.

The bike course
Upon leaving the transition area, the bikers will head out along the main road through Charlestown and on up towards Pond hill, riders then continue circumnavigating the 30km lap of the island, coming back into Charlestown to complete the first lap, this is to be repeated 3 times. The last portion of the race is a short loop turning left at the roundabout, up pump road and down the by-pass back onto the main road the riders will turn down Hunkins Drive to finish and collect their 'Run bag' containing shoes, cap etc.

The run course
The run course will head out of town towards Bath Village, past the community centre turning right onto the old outer ring road, back through Bath Village and into Fort Thomas, along the beach at gallows bay to complete one lap, this will be run three times on the last lap the runners head down Hunkins Drive to the finish line, and the cheers of the crowd.

Rules and regulation

Here are the most important rules for TriStar111 Nevis:

  1. Drafting off another competitor or motor vehicle is forbidden. The draft zone will be a rectangle 7 meters long by 3 meters wide.
  2. The bike, helmet and transition bags have to be checked in Friday to allow time for competitors to make modifications, if necessary, to comply with the rules.
  3. Race Marshals' instructions have to be followedProtests must be made in written to the Referee.
  4. Littering is not allowed. Competitors throwing away bike bottles, packaging of bars and gels or the like will be disqualified immediately.
  5. It is mandatory to swim without your race number. It must be worn on your lower back for the bike and on your front for the run.
  6. Escorting is forbidden.
  7. Relays must pass on the timing chip in order to be classified.
  8. Mobile phones, MP3 players, headsets etc. are not allowed.
  9. TriStar111 Nevis abides by rules set by the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) Code. Age group athletes can also be drug tested.
  10. Smiles and good mood are mandatory in order to start at TriStar111 Nevis.
  11. The Race Director’s decision is final in all cases.
  12. Racers must be properly attired for a Triathlon race, in particular:
    1. Approved hard helmet
    2. Enclosed shoes
    3. Jersey or top
    4. Swim Cap

Transport

Please advise us of your arrival time in St Kitts, where you will be met and taken with your bike to the ferry for Nevis, and once on Nevis on to your hotel, we will also need your departure time and date so that we can efficiently arrange your departure (there is an EC$54.00 or US$20.00 departure tax payable at the airport)

Air Canada will begin scheduled seasonal service into St. Kitts' Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on December 23, 2011 for the peak winter 2011/ 2012 travel season which ends in April 2012. The non-stop flight will operate from Toronto on Fridays leaving Toronto (YYZ) at 10.20 a.m. and will arrive into St. Kitts (SKB) at 4.20 p.m. This will be the island's only non-stop commercial flight from Canada, effectively making St. Kitts and its sister island, Nevis, a more viable winter destination choice for travelers from this key North American market.The same-day return flight will depart St. Kitts at 5:20 p.m. and arrive into Toronto at 9.40 p.m.

Effective December 1, 2011, Air Sunshine will begin scheduled air service from Puerto Rico to Nevis via St. Thomas. The airline will fly into Nevis 4 days per week (Sun,Wed,Thur,Fri), overnight and return the following morning (Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat)
